Event tags

Multiple related events can be given a common tag which allows players to more easily find them. Tags also create leaderboards for players across all events with the tag. Tags can be especially useful for events in a championship series or at a convention.

Longshanks Plus subscribers at the Silver and Gold levels can create and manage event tags. Any event host can request that an existing tag be applied to their event. Check out the event tags page to learn more about how tags work and see examples.

Championship events

Large, prominent, or influential events can be declared a Championship. Championship events are marked with a special icon and the winner of the event is given an award which appears on the player ranking for one year and on their player profile forever.

Championship status has no cost but there are some requirements for the event. Check out the championship events page to learn more about these requirements and see a list of example events.

What kind of ads

Longshanks offers a limited quantity of paid advertisements which appear alongside game artwork on many pages of the site. These advertisements can be used to:

• Promote individual events to encourage attendance and boost ticket sales.
• Publicise event tags or championship series.
• Increase awareness of a local player community.
• Advertise a useful gaming website or tool.

Pricing

The cost for an advertisement depends on the thing being advertised, which users you want the ad to appear for, and how long you want it to be featured.

The prices for typical advertisements are shown below. All advertisements have a two-month minimum.

Terms & conditions

Each advertisement is handled on a case-by-case basis. Longshanks reserves the right to adjust pricing and/or refuse any advertisement for any reason. We are very selective when approving advertisements, especially ones that link to external websites.

In each advertisement location, a random ad is shown 50% of the time. Game artwork is shown the remaining 50% of the time. A maximum of 50 ads are allowed to be active on the site at the same time. This means each ad shows up at least 1% of the time.

The pool of advertisements a person may see will depend on how they view the site. When someone views Longshanks for a specific game system, they are not shown ads targeted to a different game. When someone views the site generically for all game systems, they are shown a mix of ads for every game system as well as ads which don't target a specific game.

Company logo flair

Flair are small icons added to a user's display name. Designers, developers, and other staff of game publishers can be marked using flair with their company logo.

Company logo flair has no cost. The only requirement is that all the staff members join a community under their game publisher or studio name. Typically someone at the company maintains the community and its membership. Please contact us to have this set up for your game company.
